Managing Director of Global Markets Group, SGX

Ms Janice Kan is Managing Director and Co-Head of Equities at SGX Group. She has revenue responsibility for SGX’s core equities franchise and leads the equity derivatives business. Prior to this role in October 2023, she was head of Markets, Equities, managing the securities market, post-trade services, and equity derivatives products.  

Janice has more than 30 years’ experience in the exchange industry where she held diverse portfolios across the front and middle offices at SGX Group. She started in the regulatory and risk management functions in what was then known as SIMEX, before pivoting into key business roles at SGX to head strategy planning, product development and management in several asset classes including equities, currencies and commodities.  

Most notably, Janice is instrumental in building the SGX award winning and multi-asset derivatives business. She oversaw market development and strategy for the Greater China region establishing SGX as the most international and liquid risk management venue for institutional clients today.  

Janice graduated with a master’s degree in applied finance from Macquarie University and attended the Stanford Executive Program. She is a Certified Financial Risk Manager by the Global Association of Risk Professionals. In 2021, she was conferred the Fellow Award by the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) in Singapore, a recognition of her professional competency, thought leadership and commitment to industry development.
